Gonzalo Fenoy joins PI-SENS as a Senior Researcher /Postdoctoral Researcher to work on the development of novel electrochemical sensors. Gonzalo holds a Ph.D. from Universidad Nacional de San Martín and has expertise in field-effect transistors-based electrochemical biosensors and conducting polymers.
Gonzalo E. Fenoy was born in Bragado, Buenos Aires, Argentina. He earned his degree in Chemistry from the National University of La Plata (UNLP) in 2015, where he investigated multilayer films of polymer-capped platinum nanoparticles to enhance the hydrogen evolution reaction.
In 2021, he completed his Ph.D. at the National University of San Martín (UNSAM) as a CONICET fellow at the Soft Matter Laboratory in La Plata, Argentina. His doctoral research focused on developing conducting polymer-based films and incorporating nanomaterials for energy storage and electrochemical sensor applications.
As part of his Ph.D. research, he conducted a secondment at ICPEES (CNRS - Université de Strasbourg) under the supervision of Dominique Bégin, working on graphene-polymer composites for the development of supercapacitors. He also collaborated with the Biosensor Technologies group at the Austrian Institute of Technology under the supervision of Wolfgang Knoll, where he worked on the development of graphene field-effect transistors for biosensing applications.
After completing his Ph.D., during his postdoctoral studies at the Austrian Institute of Technology and the Soft Matter Laboratory, his research focused on developing organic electrochemical transistors based on derivatized PEDOT monomers that could be further modified using a "click" chemistry approach to create novel bioelectronic platforms.
Since February 2025, Gonzalo is working as a Senior Researcher / Postdoctoral Researcher at Danube Private University in the COMET project PI-SENS, where he is dedicated to developing innovative electrochemical biosensors.
We are looking forward to an exciting time together!
