New publication by Wolfgang Knoll, Christoph Kleber, and Roger Hasler, together with colleagues from the University of Strasbourg, the University of Twente, the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), and the Institute of Science and Technology (ISTA), titled “Dual Electronic and Optical Monitoring of Biointerfaces by a Grating-Structured Coplanar-Gated Field-Effect Transistor”.

The publication describes the development of our novel, multimodal sensor platform that seamlessly integrates optical and electronic sensing capabilities on a single chip. This platform enables simultaneous monitoring of surface mass and charge density variations, offering new possibilities for studying biomolecular interactions at the interface that are inherently tied to mass and charge. Our research highlights a scalable, industrial-compatible sensor design and together with its integration in the developed, compact instrumentation results in a form factor optimized solutions for dual-mode sensing, without compromising the optical or electronic sensor performance.
