Dr. Andreas Weinhäusel

Associate Professor

Andreas Weinhaeusel  is a trained biotechnologist and serves as Deputy Head of the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) Competence Unit Molecular Diagnostics. He is also Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna.

From 1995 to 2004, he worked at the Children’s Cancer Research Institute in Vienna, gaining extensive experience in human molecular genetic diagnostics and specializing in the testing of syndromal and hereditary neoplastic diseases. In 2001, he received his postdoctoral qualification as a Specialist in Human Genetics.

Since joining AIT’s competence unit Molecular Diagnostics in 2004, his focus has been on DNA methylation and autoantibody biomarker development, applying omics-and high-throughput technologies. Until 2020, he led the Biomarker Development Group within the competence unit; since then, he is working as Business Developer.
